This cemetery has been lumped with Kingwood Church of God since the WPA error in the 1930s. It is a distinct cemetery, and until recently had distinct caretakers. According to Wm H Welfley, in History of Bedford and Somerset Co., Vol II, Mt Zion Church was built in Kingwood in 1852. The first pastor was Rev. M. F. Pfahler. When the History was written in 1906, he stated the church "had but twenty-five members." The old church building was closed, sold, and moved several hundred feet down Casselman Rd - recycled into a store, and now the home of Kingwood Construction. At the present day, this area is a parking lot, with the War Memorial in front. Note the cemetery behind the church. It is NORTH of the smaller Church of God Cemetery.
