The Knesset Israel Cemetery was begun in 1925. The gates are normally locked. Access may be arranged by contacting the Knesset Israel Synagogue office, 413-445-4872.
Note that prior to 1925, burials were in a dedicated section of Pittsfield Cemetery. For about 10 years after that, there was some overlap in usage between the two, probably to keep family graves together. Memorials for the old cemetery are listed under "Knesset Israel Cemetery - Old"
This cemetery has also been referenced as "Knesses Israel" (see the sign) and "Kenesseth Israel" (on JewishGen.org), reflective of transliteration of other Hebrew pronunciations.
