In 1846, Joseph Colling donated land for a church, originally called Colling Wesleyan Methodist Church, but renamed in 1855 as Lowville Wesleyan Methodist Church. In 1872, the present church, known as Lowville United Church was built on the same site.

The cemetery, also located on Joseph Collings' land, was intended as a private family burial place for Colling family members and their descendents. It is located to the south of Lowville United Church on Guelph Line. It is difficult to see and the only parking is on the road shoulder. So it may be advisable to park at the church and walk down.

The cemetery is maintained by the City of Burlington.
