This was formerly the site of the 1000-acre "Belle Air" Plantation, established around 1720 by Benjamin Grayson. As of 2010 only 5 acres were left undeveloped. This property includes the 18th Century burial vault of the Grayson Family, encased in concrete by the DAR in the early 1900s. Among those entombed there are William Grayson, Revolutionary War officer, Continental Congressman, and one of the first two US Senators from Virginia; and Reverend Spence Grayson, a "fighting parson" of the Revolution and lifelong friend of George Washington.

NOTE: This is not to be confused with the "Bel Air" Plantation (established 1740) in Prince William County or its cemetery, the last resting place of author Mason Locke Weems.
