The first known survey of this cemetery was done by noted genealogist Dr. Allan E. Marble on September 11, 1968. Per his usual procedure, he did not give the cemetery a name but instead assigned it an identifying number. For this cemetery, the number was 84. He recorded the location as Port George.

At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it "Hillside Cemetery" but, in the Rootsweb cemetery index, they listed the name simply as "Hillside". They recorded the location as Port George.

Dr. Marble transcribed 243 headstones containing 413 inscriptions. The oldest identifiable stone is from 1849. This is an active cemetery, so the number of headstones is now greater than Dr. Marble's count in 1968. He noted that the cemetery was generally in good condition.

DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is located on the south side of Douglas Road, between Civic #853 and #899.
