Add PhotosMr Snape was the minister in charge at Kinosota and held services in Bluff Creek in the Glenmona School. In the winter of 1942-43, St. James Church was brought up from Lakeland on the frozen lake. Many people in the district worked hard to make this happen. Mr George Hilche donated the two acres of land on which the church and cemetery are located. ... There is a tall spruce in the cemetery where the first grave was placed. This small Anglican church, and associated cemetery, are located in the community of Bluff Creek in the Rural Municipality of Alonsa. The building underwent extensive renovation in the fall of 1999.

A part of the story of the town and its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1985 is told in the volume "Rainbow's End - Kinosota 0 Alonsa District 1985", especially starting on page 40. And, as noted above, more can be learned from the related volume "Many Trails to Manitou-Wapah", especially starting on page 273.
