This is a privately-owned cemetery. The land was obtained by the Campanelli Realty Trust and they deeded it with an access easement to the Titicut Parish Cemetery Association, Inc. in 1995.
This cemetery was used by the descendants and families of William Drake. There are 22 burials here. The first burial was that of Huldah Shaw in 1770. The cemetery was neglected for many years. The posts remain, but the rails are gone. Many stones are unreadable, broken, misplaced, or missing.
This cemetery is subject of the manuscript "The Drake Cemetery" by Albert W. Smith and available at the Middleborough Public Library. He notes that he got most of his information from a descendant of William Drake, who took notes during the 1950s. 8 of the burials are "assumed", based on family relationships and burial locations. Those 8 burials state "Assumed" in their biographies. More research is needed.
This cemetery is referred to in the book "Old Cemeteries in Southeastern Massachusetts" by Charles M Thatcher as "Drake Cemetery on Pleasant Street between Shaw's corner & Puddingshire on hill back from road".
