"This family cemetery was located southwest of Birchin Lake and north of Wilcox Road in the controlled access danger area of Fort Pickett in what was Tract H-268 owned by George N. Kirk et ux. in 1944 (see Table 1 and Figure 1). It is marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map and included on Godburn's list of cemeteries relocated to Butterwood Church where 12 individuals are listed: William S. Tompkins, W.S. Tompkins, Mrs. W.S. Tompkins, A.T. Kirk, Mrs. Amie Kirk, Nellie Spain, J.A.C. Brooks, Willie Tompkins, Mrs. Mary Quarles, Miss Bettie Quarles, W.N. Quarles, S.J. Quarles (Godburn 1977: G-7). The location of this cemetery had not been verified at the time of this survey."
