The Old Saint Joseph Church Cemetery is located in the Springfield section of Jacksonville. From the corner of Main and Union Streets downtown, go east on Union Street to the 600 block - the cemetery is on the left. The street running along side Saint Joseph's Cemetery is called Cemetery Road. On the other side of Cemetery Road is the Old Jacksonville City Cemetery and the Old Duval Cemetery.

Although Saint Joseph's Cemetery is not a part of the Old Jacksonville City Cemetery, the two cemeteries belonged to the same period and were originally part of Capt. Charles Willey's farm. In 1858, Rev. P. DeFoe bought land from Capt. Willey for the Immaculate Conception Parish. A part of that land was designated as the church's cemetery.

Records of its earliest burials have been lost. The oldest marker in the Cemetery is that of Mariana V. Pons, a native of St. Augustine, East Florida, who died February 19, 1827. Continuous records of burials, beginning in 1877, are on file in the Parish office of Immaculate Conception Church.

There have been very few burials in this cemetery in recent years. Many of the markers have been vandalized, and others are weathered and hard to read. A wall has since been built around the cemetery.

This cemetery is not to be confused with the "newer" Saint Joseph's Cemetery in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville.
