"This church cemetery was located west of Pelham Road at the Nottoway County line within the controlled access danger area of Fort Pickett in what was Tract H-276 owned
by the Trustees of Birchin Hill Church in 1944 (see Table 1 and Figure 1). It is marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map but not included on Godburn's list of cemeteries
relocated to Butterwood Church (Godburn 1977: Appendix G). The information on the metal markers at Gills Bridge identified the relocation of at least 51 individuals from this cemetery: Fannie Ann Simms, John Jor…, (R)obert Macl(i)…, …c(re)…, Laura Maclin, …amitt Hard(y), Samuel Watson, (C)reed Boose, (Ga)rtie Hardie, Billy Coleman, Neal
C…, Anderson Gilliam, Isaac Cousins, Augusta Wiles, …(b) Bra(n)ch, Henry Ha…n and 36 Unknowns (see Table 5). The location of this cemetery had not been verified at the
time of this survey."
