Search St Mary de Castro Churchyard:

The church of St Mary de Castro ('near the castle') was built in 618, and demolished about 1540, by which time it had been absorbed into the parish of St Mildred's. The White Hart public house is believed to have been built on the site of the church building. Burials appear to have continued until Victorian times, but the graveyard has long been a public park. Remaining grave markers, many badly damaged, have been cleared to the wall opposite Castle Row.
