Search Jackson Cemetery:

The burial ground for the Jackson and related families of the Forks of Cypress Plantation, this cemetery is also called the Jackson Cemetery; but as I found it on the National Register of Historic Places as "Forks of Cypress Cemetery," I've decided to submit it to Find A Grave by that name. According to the National Register, it dates to about 1818. The wealth of those who lived on these lands and who are buried here is unquestionable by the grandeur of the site. For more information, visit Pope's Tavern in Florence, Alabama and/or read "A Walk Through The Past: People and Places of Florence and Lauderdale County, Alabama" by William Lindsey McDonald. According to the book "Queen" about Alex Haley's grandmother, Queen Jackson Haley, she was born and raised on this plantation. It is from this (absolutely must-read) book that I first became aware of this incredible place.
