Search St Mary Churchyard:

The present church was built in 1833 to 1835, on the site of a previous chapel. It is in a prominent position overlooking Mount's Bay, with the churchyard below on terraces down to the seafront. The interior of the church was badly damaged by fire in 1985, and restored in 1987; some relics of the original St Mary's Chapel, and of another earlier Chapel of St Gabriel and St Raphae; can still be seen. In 2000 the parish was merged with another, and the church is now technically called the Church of St Mary with St Paul. Penwith District Council has restored the churchyard, and maintains the grounds, paths and seats.
