(special thanks to Deborah S #47398351 for the following cemetery info)
I surveyed this cemetery on December 28, 2013. I am using a Ruritans survey from the 1970s and a Martin County Genealogical Society survey from 1997, as well as census records and death certificates found through ancestry.com, to corroborate the graves I found and what I saw on the headstones.
The cemetery is sometimes called Mizell-Rogerson and is sometimes called the Lula Rogerson Cemetery. I am not sure why, as no headstone with that name could be found in any of the surveys. Perhaps a lady by that name once owned the land. The cemetery was designated Lula Rogerson cemetery #127 in the 1970s Ruritan cemetery survey, and was designated Mizell-Rogerson in the 1997 survey.
The cemetery is located on the east side of Lee Road, just south of Lee Road Ext, about 2 miles south of Bear Grass in Martin County, NC. It is in the middle of a field and almost completely surrounded by trees. The cemetery is clean, and nicely maintained. It is probably easiest to visit in winter when there is no crop in the field.
