This cemetery appears to be a small African-American cemetery that is well maintained, although there is no sign that gives it's proper name. I have called it the 'Pixley-Rhodes Family Cemetery' based on the number of marked graves with those surnames.
I have just learned from a family member that the proper name of the cemetery is the Kennedy Cemetery. It is cared for by her Dad and his cousins.
This cemetery is located about two-three miles south of the town of Johnston, SC, and is located at the corner of Carolina 121 and State Hwy S-19-310, tucked under a copse of trees. Diagonally across the street is a fruit stand--closed at the time of our visit, July 2010--belonging to the 'South C Packing Company'.
There are seven graves with identifiable markers--one being a temporary funeral home marker that is breaking up. There are at least six other graves that were marked at one time, but now are not.
The graves appear to face the traditional Easterly orientation, but the markers are facing west toward the road and away from the trees.
