The Methodist Church was built in 1849 on Second St., with the cemetery behind the church. Thirty some plots were sold, in addition an area for "negros and strangers." In 1916 the church building and all adjoining land was sold to the Masonic Order, who in turn sold off the lots, including the cemetery. Some of the tombstones remained standing for nearly fifty years, then they gradually disappeared. No other known record is known except for the thirty-two inscriptions of the 1904 copy by William M. Mervine. The last burial was May 8, 1902. The remains of 14 members of the Winsor, Neilor and Giles families were reburied Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1982 in the Bound Brook Cemetery on Mountain Ave.
The original Methodist Episcopal church in Bound Brook sits at Church Street and Second Street. It was built in a vaguely Greek revival style in 1848 and enlarged in 1874. Some time in this century it was sold to the Masonic Temple and currently is the Emanuel Church.
