This small cemetery is located on a slight slope about 1/2 mile north of highway 18 on the East side of the county road, 1 mile north of Vesper and 1 mile East. There are just the three headstones with four burials noted on the one. All are members of the Simmons family. If this turns out to be a duplicate of a cemetery, I will gladly have the Findagrave admins merge it, but I could find no reference to this.

The only discrepancy in the information concerns Rebecca Simmons. They refer to her as Joshua's daughter but she is actually his mother. Joshua's father is assumed buried here and is listed so at least until we can prove otherwise. Information can be found on the loss of only the two children to diptheria in 1878.

Finding this information in the 1950's was not quite as simple as it is now and they did a marvelous job. I salute their dedication to this family.

I have also started a public family tree for this family at Ancestry.com. Should any descendants come across this information, please feel free to contact me for access if you so desire. Thanks to Tracee Hamilton of Lincoln County for all her work on this family.

Update from Tracee Hamilton 2012-05-14
I have finally "proved up" Joshua's father's burial on this site and we've gotten a government stone for him because he, too, was a Civil War veteran! We are having a dedication ceremony on May 26 and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War are going to perform the GAR ceremony at his grave. I am beyond excited about this and thought you would want to know. I know you probably couldn't make it but I thought I should tell you about it just in case. I will be posting a new article about it soon and I'll make sure to alert you. (His Civil War service was interesting; he enlisted at 58!) I was unable to find a Simmons descendant in time, which was a shame, but I didn't want to put this off any longer. Thought you would like to know!
