The first known survey of this cemetery was done by noted genealogist Dr. Allan E. Marble on August 10, 1967. Per his usual procedure, he did not give the cemetery a name but instead assigned it an identifying number. For this cemetery, the number was 56. He recorded the location as Paradise.
At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it "Paradise Cemetery" but, in the cemetery index, they listed the name simply as "Paradise". They recorded the location as Paradise.
Dr. Marble transcribed 288 headstones containing 438 inscriptions. The oldest identifiable stone is from 1818. This is an active cemetery, so the number of headstones is now greater than when he conducted his survey in 1967. He noted that the condition of the cemetery was good.
DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is located on the south side of Highway 1, east of Civic #10136. It is fronted by a wrought iron fence with an arched sign. Headstones of both Baptists and Methodists can be found in this cemetery.
