Boston Cemetery

James Thurber, moved from Sangamon county, Illinois to Carthage Township in 1833, receiving from the government the southwest quarter of section 25 for service as a soldier in war of 1812. On this farm died his wife and rests there together with perhaps 12 others of the pioneer era, the place being called the Boston Cemetery. James Thurber's body lies in the cemetery at the old brick church.
