Carvey Cemetery (Defunct)

MATHIAS CARVEY laid out the first burying ground in the township, (Allen). . . Among the earliest burials . . . were Mr. and Mrs. BAILEY, MATHIAS CARVEY, and a child of WILLIAM HAKINS. . . (Stephens, History of Miami County Indiana, p. 296)
This cemetery was located in the present north-east part of Macy, known as Piety Hill, and was owned by Mathias Carvey. Many years ago the cemetery was abandoned, plowed over, and is no longer visible.

The cemetery is listed in the Cemetery and Burial Grounds Registry of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and in the State Historical Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD) with Cemetery Record Number CR-52-1 (Carver).
Indiana Cemetery Locations, Volume 2, published by the Indiana Genealogical Society (01 April 2006), gives the primary cemetery name as Carver Cemetery.
