Oakland Cemetery, also known as the Scotch Cemetery and Proudfoot Cemetery, was originally established in 1855.
After many years of neglect Mount Pleasant Cemetery assumed ownership in 1982, then re-opened the Cemetery in 1995.
All historical burial and lot records were destroyed in a house fire many years ago. While no one knows the exact number of interments made, because of the practice of unmarked graves, the estimates range from 350 - 574 burials.
