This page is for the Masonic Cemetery on South Henry & Carter Street {See Map Below}: There has been confusion between the 2 Masonic Cemeteries and the 2 Calvary Cemeteries in Farmington, Missouri. The original "Masonic Cemetery of Farmington" and Old Calvary is on the same city square block between South Henry and South Washington Streets (North/South running) and Carter & Park Streets (West/East running). There is a road down the middle of the cemeteries with a line of old white fence posts about 75 feet south of the one-lane road. The row of posts is the dividing line between Masonic (northern ¾ of the city block) and Old Calvary (southern ¼). The "New Calvary Cemetery" is a half mile south on S. Henry Street. As with many former societies, there was a White Masonic Hall and a Black Masonic Hall in Farmington. The Black Masonic Cemetery is on Colony Church Road on north-east side of town. The cemetery on this page is the "south" side and is still referred to as the Masonic Cemetery even though many call the double-cemetery the Calvary Cemetery as this was the only viewable sign for years. For Calvary listings, search "Calvary" in St. Francois County on To view cemeteries on the St. Francois County web-site, click HERE . The Masonic Cemetery on Carter Street is the site of the old log cabin where the first Sunday School west of the Mississippi was organized and taught by Sarah Barton Murphy. A 7-foot marble obelisk marks the location along the northern edge of the cemetery on Carter Street.
