Our History
Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines is part of the nationwide Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Presbytery of Arkansas and Synod of the Sun.

In late 1980, when Bob and Lil Stire moved from El Dorado, Ark., to Hot Springs Village, their former pastor at First Presbyterian Church urged them to start a Presbyterian Church in the Village. The Stires began recruiting others and thanks to their diligence and hard work, the Kirk was chartered in June of 1981. On Sunday, March 24, 1984, a ground- breaking ceremony was held for a new sanctuary and fellowship hall. The first worship service was held on January 5, 1985.

From these drawing room beginnings, the congregation grew to over 700 members. In 1994 the Kirk helped establish a sister church in the Village, Woodlands Presbyterian Church, which was chartered two years later.

Our well-designed facility draws community groups from all over the Village for meetings, events and musical rehearsals. Over the years we have expanded the sanctuary and narthex and added a sophisticated sound system, a beautiful Memorial Garden with a columbarium wall and lawn garden for interment. The Fran Brown Library now stocks over 2,000 books for our members.

Our ministries have grown to include a wide variety of programs and fellowship groups to help us grow in the Lord, both as a church and individually.
