In 1864, the first Amos Presbyterian church of log construction was built a little to the east of the present one. A half acre of land was donated by Mr & Mrs. George Amos who were immigrants from Scotland & felt the lack of a place of worship.
Until 1878, Amos congregation was joined with Fairbairn & Holsteinunder the care of Durham Presbytery. In 1879. an acre of land was purchased for church sheds and 1881, the first manse & stables.
In 1884, the present brick church was completed at a cost of $3000.00.
