(Also known as: Adams Cemetery)
This is an example of a late 19th-century burial ground of the local African-American community. It was part of the 50-acre farm owned by Josiah Adams established in 1884 and later passed to members of the family. Graves are marked with slabs of local ironstone and yucca plants. Many African American families, such as the Adams, Beckett, Plummer, and Edward families, buried their loved ones from the late 1880s through the 1940s. The Beacon Heights subdivision in 1953 was established and the cemetery was to remain undisturbed. A 5.8 acre parcel comprise all that is left of the property. Chunks of uninscribed sandstone marking the burials have been disturbed and lost before the Maryland-National Capitol Park and Planning Commission took possession. A concrete bench has been installed and a park sign has been erected creating a small park-like setting with several memorial markers but the majority of the parcel is wooded.
