This cemetery is located in a field above where the home of Jacob Shuff and Martha (Davis) Walker once stood on land they settled in the early 1860s, moving here to Straight Creek from the Mulberry Gap area of Hancock County.
At various times, the cemetery has not been well-maintained, and graves are only marked with fieldstones without inscriptions. The most recent estimate is that the cemetery contains four graves, although earlier viewers estimated 10-14.
Jacob and Martha are known to be buried here. The others are some of their children who are very likely to be buried here.
To find the cemetery, go to the Straight Creek Missionary Baptist Church near the second intersection of Lone Mountain Road and the Straight Creek Church road. Behind the church and across the creek is a cleared field extending up the ridge, About two-thirds of the way up the hill and near the left edge of the field is a small grove of trees; the cemetery is within that grove.
The home site was on the creek just inside the modern tree line at the bottom of the hill.
