The Fleshman Family Cemetery was located on land originally purchased by Jonas Fleshman (Fleischmann) in 1818 in Washington Twp, Harrison Co, Indiana (N 1/2 of Sec 13, Twp 5, R 2). Jonas and his wife Sarah Pittman lived on that farm until their deaths in the 1870's. Jonas' son John Philip took over the farm sometime before the death of Jonas, but then died himself in 1881.
The cemetery reportedly contained 25 to 30 stones at one time. However, a subsequent owner of the farm destroyed the cemetery in abt 1950 during the renovation of a pasture. The stones were reportedly buried in place or some number of them may have been buried over a spring near one of the farm outbuildings. Some may have been tossed along the bank of the nearby creek. Two stones currently (2009) lie near the base of a large tree on the farmstead; John Philip's and another older hand-carved stone that appears to read "J F, 1820". John Philip's stone was uncovered during the tillage of the field near or over the original cemetery.
