Brothertown Indian Cemetery About a mile south of Deansboro on the road to Waterville is the locality called Dicksville. Many years ago this was a flourishing hamlet, with a grist mill,a distillery and stores, but now it is just a lovely country side of comfortable farm homes, bisected by a state highway over which traffic flows endlessly through that beautiful Oriskany Valley. In the heart of the locality, about 150 feet west of the highway is an old Indian cemetery where many of the Brothertown Indians such as The Skeessuck,Wampy,Tuhi, and Fowler families all prominent in the Brothertown tribe, were laid to rest here.Only about a dozen marble slabs are left to mark the graves and most of them have fallen flat after a century of time and neglect. From "Melting Pot" in the Rome Daily Sentinel Aug.23,1940 written by William P. Doyle(Sentinel Staff)
