This is the original Holbert Cemetery on Masthope - Plank Rd. on the way to Masthope, PA. The last known name for the cemetery is Westcolang Burying Ground, though mostly Holberts are buried there. There are a few unreadable stones and quite a few headstones which are just slabs of slate stuck in the ground. I guess we will never know who these people are.
Our 4th Great Grandfather William Holbert is the first interment to the cemetery in April 1819.
He was one of the original settlers to the area. William's two sons and most of their families are buried here. Most stones are still readable. Thanks to a distant relative and her husband they fixed a couple of the headstones which had fallen apart. My family and I plan up fixing up the old cemetery in honor of our relatives.
There is another Holbert Cemetery just up the road from this one which the extended family continues to use. It is called, Holbert Cemetery and is only for the Holberts.
