This cemetery is located in Fall Creek Falls State Park near the fire tower, just to the left of the fire tower road, about 50 paces in front of the fire tower, on the left and down the hill. The Park is located in two counties, Van Buren County and Bledsoe County, Tennessee. The cemetery is in the area of Bledsoe County, Tenn.
The cemetery has a lovely iron fence around it.
There are reported to be seven people buried in this cemetery.
I think the W.P.A. has a record of those who are here. The inventory was taken at the time that some areas of Tennessee were being flooded with water due to new dams being built, etc.
I am also told that six of the burials at this location are in one direction and one person was buried in the other direction, because he or she was not going to heaven.
He or she must have been an bad person. Maybe he was the horse thief that I am told was in the area. I have also been told that Samuel Corydon Hemphill was a friend to the horse thief and used to hide him out from the local sheriff. Maybe some day someone can prove all this or disprove it.
Some of the burials here may have been children of Samuel Corydon Hemphill. One girl is reported to have run away or disappeared in the forest and maybe she was found deceased and buried here.
Note: Margaret (FAG member #47082553 took the cemetery photo and she is aware of it's pending status as the official picture for the cemetery.)
