Rhode Island Historical Cemetery North Smithfield #41
Location: 500 ft north of MATTITY ROAD at TEL pole # 22
52ft x 60ft enclosed with granite posts and iron rails
34 burials with 14 inscriptions from 1777 to 1851
Surveyed by:
[1] James N Arnold [24 Apr 1908, Vol. 25, Pg 287-289]: "On the John Sayles Farm now owned by Mr Field at Field's Station in sight of the station. Lot fenced by iron rails and granite posts, yard covered with brush & briers."
[2] Ron Farrar [circa 1970]: "North Smithfield, Mattity Road"
[3] Irene Nebiker [early 1970's]
[4] Roger Beaudry & Paul Delisle [25 Feb 1995] at that time, the property owner (David Gold) had begun to restore lot. Brush had been cleared and some stones which had been buried were found. Mr Gold had even gone so far as to replace some missing granite blocks with new ones made of pressure treated wood cut to the same size.
Note: I have tried to find an immediate connection between these two families and found nothing. This is the only connection that I can make at this time: Zebedee Mowry Sr. and Esek Sayles are 3rd cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Roger Mowry and Mary Johnson.
