Lost cemetery. Contains one of the few Revolutionary War veteran graves in Houston County, GA.
[Jesse Pollock] lived to a good old age and died in Houston Co. and [was] buried in what was known at that time as the Pollock grave yard which has been abandoned at least fifty years [thus since 1860]. There is not a stone or mark of any kind to locate the place.
from the notebook of James Greenberry Pollock, circa 1910:
The will of Jesse Pollock identifies his land as "2 squares of land being land lots #248 and #249 in 10th dist. Houston Co., Ga."
The cemetery was likely on this land. A portion of lot #249 is now the old Houston County landfill, north of Woodard Rd. This square is immediately west of lot #9 in the 11th district, the northwest corner of which is the location of the abandoned Beaver Creek cemetery (Primitive Baptist), which is not the same as this earlier site.
