Humansville's First Cemetery is a lost cemetery, and its original location is unknown. It had markers as late as 1929, but all of its markers (about 6) were removed soon after, probably when the land left the hands of the Human family. On May 29, 1976, descendants of James G. Human erected a sign marking the approximate location of the cemetery, on Mill Street, two blocks west of the Big Spring Nursing Home in Humansville. However, Polk County historians contest that this location, on a flat field north of the river, is a less likely location for the cemetery than on the bluff above the river.
