The first death in Edinburg was that of Mary Jeanette Eddy. She died Aug. 4, 1819 at the age of 4 years daughter of Alanson and Rachel Eddy.  There being no public burying ground at this time, Frederick Wadsworth donated for that purpose one acre of land 3/4 miles north north west of the Center and this little girl was the first person buried there.


The first adult buried there was Mrs. Mercy Bostwick, wife of Elizu Bostwick, died July 17, 1820, ag 66 years.
