This is a black cemetery. This information was recorded by Jan Conn, Mrs. E.E. Simpson, Miss Lou Ella Cheeks, and Mrs. Arquence Joiner in October 1979 and published in Lee County, Texas Cemeteries, published in 1991 by the Lee County Historical Society.

Take US Hwy 290 east from Giddings, Texas for 6 miles. Turn left on FM 180 for 1.5 miles to cemetery gate on right. The gate is kept locked to this very well kept cemetery.

Three or four Jones brothers--Phillip, Abraham, and Aaron--settled in this area along with the Craff family. The Craff's gave land for the New Union Baptist Church on the road toward Globe Hill Church and Cemetery. Aaron Jones then donated the land for the Jones Colony Cemetery. The neightoring blacks from Ledbetter, who had no cemetery, so the Jones family let them be buried here since the land was given to the community and not specifically to the church.
