This cemetery is located at the intersection of Tanoma and Darwin Roads, in Rayne Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. The cemetery is on the grounds of, what was once, The "Old" German Baptist Church, which was located here in the 1800s. Shortly before or after April 30, 1882, the church was moved about 1.5 miles south, on Tanoma Road and rebuilt. The old church property, with the exclusion of this very small cemetery, was sold to private parties. The Church then created a "New" cemetery at its updated location and more-or-less forgot about this tiny cemetery. This "New" cemetery came to be known as the Ruffner Cemetery (pronounced Roofner).
Because this cemetery is located near the small village of Tanoma, PA, it has sometimes been called the Tanoma/Myers Cemetery. However, the old cemetery, pictured here, was always known as the "Old" German Baptist Cemetery until the late 1990s when a family, who was searching for ancestors, discovered it and found some relatives buried here. According to the present landowner, they returned a week or so later and placed the sign that designated it as the "Meyer's Cemetery" and then they departed, not to be seen again by the landowner. The cemetery is currently in a state of disrepair and is badly in need of maintenance. The Ruffner Cemetery, down the road a short peice, from this cemetery has been know at one time or another as, The Dunkard Cemetery, The Crooked Creek Brethern Cemetery and the "New" German Baptist Cemetery. Today, it is just the Ruffner Cemetery and this one is the Meyers Cemetery.
