"IN the lst Civil District of Jackson County, out three miles Northeast from Gainesboro on Highway 53 leading to Livingston and Celina, leaving this highway, turn to the right before reaching the Roaring River Bridge, then 6 miles up Roaring River - located on the famous Pioneer Gore farm. About 50 yards due East from the Gore residence is the Gore Cemetery. This farm formerly owned by the great grand and grandparents and father of Ho. Judge John J. Gore, is now owned by him.

This cemetery is one of the best kept in the county. There is a fund set aside by the Gores for the upkeeping of this cemetery.

There are many slaves buried here."

The one-time famous "Old Water Mill" owned by Rufus Allen is located on a northwest wing on this farm.

"Copied 21 inscriptions; counted 42 graves. Several graves in this cemetery have iron markers (old tomb markers) and the inscriptions have faded and worn away." -Notes made by Maude McGlasson in 1936, when she recorded these records of the cemetery.
