Search Saint Lukes Episcopal Church Chapel:

As Phillipsburg's population was less than 1000 and centered primarily in the South Main Street area, the original stone church was built on South Main Street. It was consecrated by the Right Reverend William H Odenheimer on 06 Jun 1861, and erected in memory of Reverend & Mrs. J M Rogers on a lot donated by the Andover Furnace Company. This building was sold in 1947.

Later, due to the Ingersoll-Rand Company, the Hillcrest area of Phillipsburg was being developed and plans of a new high school was being discussed. This spurred the church in 1923 to obtain a section of land on Morris Pike.

Construction began on the Saint Paul's Chapel on 08 Dec 1935. This is currently located on a traffic island surrounded by Memorial Parkway (Route 22), Warren Street & Hillcrest Boulevard directly across from Phillipsburg High School.

A new Saint Luke's Episcopal Church was began on 18 Oct 1953 at Lincoln Road and Hillcrest Boulevard. It was completed in 1955 and dedicated on 01 Nov 1955.
