The Niuli'i Cemetery is located just past the small village of Hawi towards the Pololu Valley Lookout on the North Kohala coastline of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is known as the LDS Cemetery by local citizens.

The directory with names of those interned was a special project Brent Kamaka Cornillez designed and built for his eagle scout project in 1994. Those who are buried there are his family and comprise several generations. His great great grandparents are buried there. The cemetery and surrounding property is where the old LDS (Mormon) chapel once stood. It was owned by the Mormon church as far back as the late 1800's. The property is now privately owned and maintained by the living descendents. Another interesting note are the numbered grave sites. When he started the project, most of the graves did not have markers or numbers. He had many of his kupuna's assist us in locating the unmarked grave sites. He then made cement grave markers for the unmarked graves and numbered all of the sites for the directory. He believes there may be a few grave site that are forgotten. Likewise, there are a couple of graves he doesn't know who is buried there. The list you see is maintained by his mother. It took many months to complete the project. It was a labor of love for the entire family.
