Located on Back Creek Valley Rd. (CR 7) at Ganotown.
It was here that one of the first Methodist Churches in Berkeley County was established. On the north side of present Ganotown (originally named Jamestown) is a 176 acre tract of land that was granted to Thomas Chenoweth on July 7, 1761. Thomas Middleton purchased the land. On December 18, 1793 he sold some of it for 20 shillings to the trustees: "...ensure to the only proper use and benefit of the Methodist Episcopal Church to erect or build a preaching house or church for the publick worship of Almighty God upon and to bury their dead at all times in forever hereafter as for no other intent or purpose."
