Waterstreet Cemetery is located in Morris Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The village of Water Street is located just a mile from Shaffersville.
The name "Water Street" was given originally to a gorge between the mountains, through which the waters of the Juniata River pass, above the village bearing that name. Water Street was on the Frankstown Path and is named on the old Indian Trails Maps.
Pack trains used the creek bed for passage through the narrow, steep-sided gap in Tussey Mountain. Turning southwest at the village of Water Street, the path (now followed closely by U.S. 22) passed Yellow Spring to Canoe Mountain and Canoe Creek.
There is a roadside historical marker near the cemetery for the Frankstown Path (dedicated in 1949) on U.S. 22 just E of Water Street which reads:
"The path turned south, up the Frankstown Branch of Juniata. The Warriors Path from Great Island came in at Water Street, so named because the river bed was used as a passage through Tusseys Mountain."
