The Spring Lake Cemetery is located eight miles east of Cambridge, MN and five miles northwest of North Branch, MN. From either city, follow Highway 95 to Erickson Road NE (CR48) and turn north. Follow Erickson Road about 1/2 mile and the cemetery will be found on the right (north) side of the road. Although the mailing address is within Chisago county, the church and cemetery are physically located within Isanti county, MN.
The cemetery is managed by the Spring Lake Lutheran Church. The church was established in 1874 by members of the Fish Lake Lutheran Church of Chisago County. These congregations were predominately Swedes who had immigrated from the Småland area of Sweden. You will find most of the early grave markers and monuments are engraved in their native language.
In 1954 a replica bell tower was presented to the church by Anna DANIELSON as a memorial to her parents and all the early Swedish pioneers in the Spring Lake community. The bell tower was fashioned after one at the Vextorps church in the town of Värnamo, Småland, Sweden.
