The Douglas Chapel Cemetery (also known as Damascus Cemetery) is unfenced and located on Hwy-29 in T-2-N, R-12-E, Section 12, on flat land at the summit of a hill. The distance from Brewton is about 18 miles and the distance from Andalusia is about 30 miles. Hwy-29 is a clean and well maintained highway but is curvy, hilly, and heavily traveled by large trucks. There are also many deer crossings, as the animals feed on the newly mown grasses at roadside. Caution is a key word.
If driving northeast from Brewton, the Douglas Chapel will be sitting at the top of a down-grade where steep embankments are on each side of the highway. It is easy to pass the chapel before seeing the right turn, so approach with caution, as the embankments could be distracting and render seeing the signs more difficult. The small chapel will be on the right side. Directly at roadside is the Damascus Cemetery sign. From the chapel the drive is a low grade hill for another mile or so before crossing the Conecuh River.
If driving southwest from Andalusia, the first significant landmark will be the McGowin Bridge over the river. At about 1.5 miles the chapel and cemetery will be on the left.
