This is a privately-owned cemetery. This cemetery is at the site of the Second Meetinghouse of the Second Parish of Scituate. This site was only used for 27 years; from 1680 to 1707. The building is gone, but the stones and the burials remain. This cemetery was preceeded by the Second Church Graveyard and suceeded by the First Parish Cemetery.

The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as NRW802.

This cemetery is referred to in the book "Vital Records of Scituate, Massachusetts to 1850", Published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society, as G.R.13. The town of Norwell, originally named "South Scituate" but renamed in 1888, separated from the town of Scituate in 1849.

This cemetery is referred to in the book "Old Cemeteries of Southeastern Massachusetts" by Charles M Thatcher as "Old Cemetery Opp. Schoolhouse near Union Bridge - Scituate".
