Lenora Church is a Missionary Baptist Church of Christ constitued 31st of October, 1915 and a member of the Pleasant Grove Association of Georgia. Started in a brush arbour just down the road toward the city of Snellville on what is now Lenora Church Road. The church located in the fork of the road on what is now Lenora Church Rd. and Centerville-Rosebud Rd. (Old Stone Mtn.-Loganville Rd.) and is in what is called the Lenora community of the Rock Bridge district in Gwinnett county. The old Lenora schoolhouse was directly across Centerville-Rosebud Rd. where the convenience store is now. The story is that Lenora got it's name when the original schoolhouse burned and was rebuilt. A local doctor donated the bell for the school and asked that it be named for his daughter, who was Nora Lee. Thus it was named Lenora School (origninally pronounced Lee-Nora, and still is by some old timers.) The cemetery was started as a community cemetery on land donated for the use of a church and cemetery. Thus many burials originally were not members of the church but members of the community who may have attended the church or not. Some grave spaces were also donated to local families in later years that experienced a loss and had no place to bury their loved one.
