Located on the south side of Goodwill Loop (off south side of Highway 84).
Bethel United Methodist Church was organized in 1875 when the Hopewell Church, located near Old Mount Vernon Bridge, was abandoned. Hopewell was in operation for several years and when closed the membership was transferred to Bethel and became part of the Charter Membership.
On October 15, 1875, a deed was given to Bethel Church for 4 acres of land. The donors were Andrew C. Westbrook, John Storm, Nimrod Grice; the price was $20.00. John P. McFarland , Thomas King, John Evans and W. J. Holloway were trustees at this time.
The Hopewell Church material was used as part of the first Bethel Church. The building was made of logs. When completed Dr. Johnson, President of Whitworth College dedicated the building.
