Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized by the Reverend Jacob Crim in March of 1851. In the beginning the new organization worshipped in the Presbyterian Church in the village. It was referred to as Franklin Church. The first place of worship was built in 1854 and it was named Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church. It was located a short distance east from the present church, where the cemetery is now. It was a small frame building with wooden shutters covering the windows. There was a stone wall around the church, which was later removed.
Mailing address is Salisbury, but the cemetery is in the community of Franklin.
