This cemetery is located in Bear Creek Twp which is located at SE Qtr of NE Qtr of Section 35 Twp 49 N Range 4 West. Cemetery is north side of road approx 1/8 mile west of Bear Creek Stream.
Directions to New Providence Methodist Church Cemetery from Montgomery City: Take route 161 towards Bellflower taking County Road E. Turn right at the first gravel road (7-up road). Then turn left on Melvin Road traveling to church and cemetery. The Methodist church currently is only used for a yearly gathering. I was told that whoever is buried here probably attended this church. I spoke with Margery Miller whose home phone number, (573) 564-2370, is listed for the Montgomery County Genealogical Society, 112 W 2nd St, Montgomery City, MO (573) 564-2370. Their two room building is small and only open on Tuesday mornings unless you call ahead and make an appointment with her.
School records are in the basement of the county court house in Montgomery City.
