"Concord Baptist Church was organized in 1838 with the first worship being conducted under "Brush Arbors" until the church building was constructed in 1841. This quadrant of the church property was already being utilized at the time as an Indian burial ground. With the majority of the Indians being removed to Oklahoma, this area was then converted to a burial ground for negro slaves. After the war between the states, negro burials were continued for a while. The number of unmarked graves in this area is not recorded."
