To get to this cemetery, you take Autoroute # 10 East, take Exit # 90, turn right on route 243, (Lakeside St.). This is one of the most scenic roads, going around Brome Lake and into the town of Knowlton. You turn left on St Paul Rd, and this will lead you to the Cemetery.

It is situated on what was originally part of the Ball Farm, the first adult buried here was Jacob Ball, (Loyalist), b. May 28 1764, d. Nov 9 1831, 2nd settler at Brome Corner 1800, h/o E.H. Stone, (B.C.H.S. 1990)

This is a very well maintained cemetery, I have never been to visit that the grass wasn't trimmed & most of the leaves removed. However there are monuments that need the moss removed from them. Many of the ground monuments (flat) need to have the dirt and grass removed from around the edges. They are becoming overgrown and in a short time many of them will no longer be seen.

We do not claim to have the complete listing of this cemetery, we have tried our best to do all the readable monuments, there are always those that can no longer be read, or they are sunken into the ground.

As we did this reading I am astonished at the fact that so many people in this area of Brome lived to be in their nineties and even a hundred years of age. If we do as the scientists say and live longer than our ancestors, maybe we'll have burials of 110 and more in a few years.

Marjorie-Anne Smith and I compiled this from tombstone inscriptions in late fall of 2005. It includes all existing and legible readings to the best of our ability.
